The father of a 7-year-old South Side boy who accidentally shot his baby brother while handling a revolver in their Englewood home has been charged with a felony.
Levar T. Jones, 26, was charged with owning a gun without having a valid firearm identification owner’s card.
Jones also was charged with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the life and health of a child and one count of reckless conduct.
The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. The 7-year-old boy found the loaded .38 caliber revolver in a bedroom, police said, didn’t know it was a real gun and fired a shot that hit his 7-month-old baby brother, leaving the infant with a wound that went through the soft tissue of his leg.
