Herman Cain Says He Wants His Secret Service Codename To Be “Cornbread”

It is safe to say that no other Republican on the campaign trail this year — or ever — has begun a speech with the phrase “Awww, shucky ducky!” the way Herman Cain did this year to the utter delight of his audience, which responded with wild applause.

Few candidates compare themselves to a flavor of ice cream, but Mr. Cain is intent on letting people know that he is like “Häagen-Dazs black walnut,” the point being that he is certainly not a flavor of the week because it “tastes good all the time.”

He has no qualms, for instance, about playing off black clichés: should he become president, his Secret Service codename should be “Cornbread,” he wrote in his memoir, “This is Herman Cain! My Journey to the White House.” Mr. Cain’s traveling aide, Nathan Naidu, already refers to him as Cornbread on the internal campaign schedule. (Why? Mr. Cain says he just loves cornbread.)

Those kinds of comments have drawn criticism from the likes of academics like Cornel West and entertainers like Harry Belafonte, who called Mr. Cain “a bad apple.”

      i think you are mistaken, that sounds more like liberals. I am republican and i do infact like Cain. he is the utlimate American story. he came from a poor family who worked hard to get ahead and be able to send their sons to college. he went to college then proceeded to GET A JOB. he has held high level jobs at multiple companys, he was a ballistics mathemtician for the navy, worked for the fed res bank, had a syndicated column and is a radio host of his own show for years. his story is what MLK fought and died for. all obama had ever done was be a commuity organizer. well, after all he was so busy with all his male lovers and the drugs he was doing he probably didnt have time for much else.

    Time to break out the word. 1 Corinthians 13:11 – “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”

    What Cain is doing with his “black walnut” and “cornbread” rhetoric is declaring that where you’ve come from can be connected to where you’re going without conflict. He’s not an example of what a president let alone what a man should be.
