Northern Illinois University student from Park Forest was fatally shot when an argument broke out at an off-campus party early this morning, authorities said.

The student was identified as Steven R. Agee II, 22, a senior majoring in sociology who already had a job offer lined up in San Diego. His parents had planned to pick him up this morning for the Thanksgiving holiday.

“I just lost my baby boy. That’s it,” his father Steven Agee Sr. told the Tribune this morning.  “And now there will be no more holidays with him, not even this one coming now.”

The shooting occurred at about 2:10 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 800 block of Edgebrook Drive, police said. Agee and the gunman apparently got into an argument at a party attended by dozens of people, Feithen said.

The other man pulled a gun and shot Agee in the chest and fled. The gunman was described as an African-American man, about 20 years old, with a dark complexion, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11l and last seen wearing a dark jacket.
