It was amazing this week to listen to conservatives like Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity and Brent Bozell make these crazy comments comparing the criticism of Herman Cain and sex harassment allegations to lynching. What was more offensive was to listen to them to say that, oh, somehow, here are attacks on Black conservatives solely because they are Black.
Here’s the reality. I know many Black conservatives. I know many Black liberals, and what you often find is you find arguments and disagreements as relates to their views – not the question of whether they’re Black.
What’s also amazing is these are the same folks. It’s not like they really care to listen to Black conservatives, ’cause I’ll tell you. I’ve seen examples – many examples – where Black conservatives have been trying to get the GOP to understand exactly what is going on in Black America. Too often, the GOP doesn’t want to listen. I can tell you for a fact on this show, we’ve made numerous efforts to get Republicans to come to this show – White Republicans – to talk about the issues of the day. They choose not to.
And so if you’re Sean Hannity, if you’re Ann Coulter, if you’re Brent Bozell, or Rush Limbaugh, seriously, don’t speak for Black conservatives, because you’re embarrassing them because you sound like utter idiots with the allegations you’re throwing out. Cain’s criticism is because of the issues – not because he’s Black.
That’s my perspective. What’s yours?
