Roland S. Martin, host and managing editor of TV One Cable Network’s Washington Watch, will be bringing the show to The Potter’s House for a special taping on Wednesday evening, December 7. The topic: 21st Century Manhood.
Martin, an analyst for CNN and the Tom Joyner Morning Show, will begin with a one-on-one with Bishop T.D. Jakes. Included in that segment will be the impact of media images of men, the role of spirituality in the lives of authentic men and why fatherlessness is at epidemic proportions in the African American community.
The show’s producers are looking for people to be on the program, (men and women) who fit 4 distinctly different profiles:
Profile 1: Men and women who grew up without fathers who are comfortable talking about what it was like for them and how it impacted their lives and relationships with others.
Profile 2: Women who are raising boys alone, who are comfortable talking about whether women can teach boys how to be good husbands, fathers and authentic men.
Profile 3: Surrogate Fathers. These are the men who step in and become role models for children who are not their own and who are comfortable talking about what it means to them.
Profile 4: Fathers who grew up without the presence of their own fathers but who are comfortable talking about their commitment to having a presence in their children’s lives and about how to break the cycle of fatherless families.
In the final segment of the show, Bishop Jakes and Roland will give viewers an action plan for going forward.
The producers will be interviewing potential TV show guests on Monday and Tuesday, December 5 and 6 including evenings at The Potter’s House. If you would like to participate, you will need to be available for an interview on one of those days and for the taping, 6:30-9:00 on Wednesday December 7.
If you are interested in being on the program please email the producers email@example.com by Friday night, December 2. Please include a brief description as to how you fit into the profiles above. They will contact you for an interview on Monday or Tuesday. Please indicate your cell phone number and what times on those days work best for you.
