Detroit – A former Detroit City Council aide caught on FBI surveillance video pocketing cash from a contractor has been sentenced to five months in federal prison.
U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn also ordered John Clark to serve five months home confinement and to report to prison June 18, according to a judgment filed in federal court Wednesday. Clark, a former aide to City Councilman Kenneth Cockrel Jr., also must serve two years probation.
Federal prosecutors were pushing for up to 16 months in prison.
To date, a federal investigation of City Hall corruption has netted at least 18 felony convictions.
