NEWARK, N.J – Singer Whitney Houston will be laid to rest Saturday in the New Jersey church where she sang as a child, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.
The owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, which is handling the arrangements, said Houston’s funeral will be held at noon at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark.
A hearse carrying the late pop star’s body arrived under heavy police escort late Monday at the funeral home, which also handled the 2003 funeral of Houston’s father.
Houston died Saturday at a hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. She was 48. Officials say she was apparently unconscious when she was pulled from a bathtub.
