Roland S. Martin Daily Podcast 02.23.12: New Film From The Rough Being Held From Release Until It Has Been Broadened For A Larger Market?

Roland Martin talks with director Pierre Bagley about the yet to be released film From The Rough. From The Rough is based on the true story of Catana Starks (played by Taraji P. Henson), a former swim coach at Tennessee State University who became the first woman ever to coach a college men’s golf team. Starks guided the team to an all-time record at the PGA National Collegiate Minority Championship.

According to Bagley, the release of the movie is being held up until the film is “broadened.”

  • What the hell is this ‘broaden’ BS?  Does everything have to be some shade of gray?  I’m tired of being relegated to the farce or assigned to the role of the ignorant mammy/maid or the curvacious and heartless man-toy.  TV is starting to catch up, now it’s time to wake up Hollywood, this is 2012!
