OAKLAND, Pa. — At least one gunman opened fire Thursday afternoon at a psychiatric clinic outside Pittsburgh, hitting several people, including a police officer who was grazed by a bullet, according to media reports from the scene. There were reports that hostages had been taken.
There were conflicting reports of the number of injuries at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Oakland.
NBC News affiliate WXPI.com reported at least two people had been killed, including one gunman. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported at least five people were shot.
A reporter from WXPI.com who was at the scene said police were handling a hostage situation, but there was no official confirmation.
