Visa and MasterCard are alerting banks nationwide about a recent major breach at a U.S.-based credit card processor, according to KrebsonSecurity.com, a blog on security matters.
KrebsonSecurity.com says the breach apparently occurred between Jan. 21 and Feb. 25 and could involve as many as 10 million credit numbers.
CNBC reports that Mastercard says law enforcement has been notified of the matter and that an “independent data security organization” is being reviewing the matter.
