Roland Martin, Sunny Hostin, Jeffrey Toobin and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee appear on JKUSA with John King to discuss the 2nd-degreee murder charge being brought against George Zimmerman in the shooting of Trayvon Martin.
Man 2 is an overcharge. One must demonstrate a “depraved indifference to human life” to qualify for that charge. They are overcharging and will accept a lesser plea, which is unethical. Who the hell has a “depraved indifference to human life” when they begin an encounter by dialing 911?
Just charge him with Man 3 or manslaughter.
In the wake of this tragedy, and the ‘stand your ground law’, it is my opinion that Trayvon evoked his right to stand his ground while being pursued. Note the conversation of Trayvon and his girlfriend on the phone. She told him to run, and he replied he was not. There lies Trayvon’s state of mind to stand his ground. I will be watching closely to see if his state of mind is considered.
