NEW YORK – The Tigers put outfielder Delmon Young on the restricted list today and recalled Danny Worth from Toledo to take Young’s spot on the team’s 25-man roster, the club announced.
Young will remain on the restricted list pending an evaluation at the beginning of the week “per a provision in the Major League Baseball Basic Agreement,” the Tigers said in a statement.
Young was arrested early Friday morning after a physical confrontation with four men outside the team’s hotel along Sixth Avenue (the Hilton New York), Detective Joseph Cavitolo, a New York police spokesman, told the Free Press.
He spent Friday in a holding cell and was arraigned in a Manhattan courtroom in the evening and charged with aggravated harassment – a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail.
