Two people were killed at a party in the Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood overnight, bringing the number of fatalities to at least eight this weekend.
At least 40 others were wounded in shootings across the city.
Police say in the latest shooting someone opened fire at a party near Halsted and 50th Place in the Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood. Two were killed and three others were injured just before midnight.
Just hours before, ministers had led marches through the community to end the violence, following another deadly shooting. On Friday night, Rashaun Stephany and Mario Jackson were fatally shot. Two others were wounded.
