In an interview this week, Tom Wills of WJXT in Jacksonville, Florida, surprised the President with this question.

MR. TOM WILLS: We’ve heard you sing.

PRES. OBAMA: [Chuckles.]

MR. WILLS: We’ve seen you do stand-up at the Correspondents’ Dinner. I was just wondering if you would give any thought to being on “American Idol” or “America’s Got Talent.” You’d be a big hit, Mr. President.

PRES. OBAMA: [Chuckles.] Let me tell you. My wife and my daughters find me embarrassing enough when I start performing.

MR. WILLS: [Chuckles.]

PRES. OBAMA: They certainly don’t want a large, national audience seeing me i- — in those kinds of situations. So, I’m – I’m going to try to keep it – my singing to the shower most of the time.
