Woods’ Win Propels TV Golf Rating To 171% Jump

Whatever you think about Tiger Woods, there’s no arguing with this: He can still move TV ratings — big-time.

CBS’ Sunday coverage of the AT&T National drew a 4.6 overnight, up 171% from last year’s final-round coverage, when Woods didn’t play in the tournament and Nick Watney won it. CBS’ coverage Saturday drew a 2.2 overnight– up 69% from last year.

Normally, that 4.6 overnight would translate to 4.6% of households in the 56 urban markets measured for overnights.

But this weekend’s overnights come with asterisks. Due to severe storms that hit some parts of the Northeast, ratings data from several East Coast markets — including Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia — has been delayed and those markets aren’t included in the overnights.
