‘God’ Absent From Democrats’ Platform

Democrats omitted the word “God” from their 2012 platform, a change from the party’s 2008 document and a noticeable split from Republicans, who mention God ten times in their official party stance.

In 2008, Democrats wrote, “We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.”

The paragraph extolling the value of hard work in 2012 reads, “We gather to reclaim the basic bargain that built the largest middle class and the most prosperous nation on Earth-the simple principle that in America, hard work should pay off, responsibility should be rewarded, and each one of us should be able to go as far as our talent and drive take us.”

David Brody of the Christian Broadcasting Network first reported on the exclusion of the word “God” in the Democrats’ platform.

what a joke..no God no vote..at least lie to us and act as if you respect the word..

I have no problem with it. It’s called the separation of church and state. I don’t need the Democratic party to pick my God for me.

    • Tell that to the founding fathers where you can find the word God in numerous documents the signed. I really hope Romney/Ryan wins so we
could get back to what the Founding Fathers really intended. A country founded on faith on God and freedom.

  • Very Angry American

“to reclaim…the principle that in America, hard work should pay off, responsibility should be rewarded, and each one of us should be able to go as far as our talent and drive take us.” – How exactly does rewarding lazy people with enough welfare to buy multiple cars, alcohol, and drugs, while taxing the workers so much they can’t even afford a car…reward responsibility??? How does forcing businesses (who CREATE jobs for Americans) to pay so much for employee health insurance that it ends up shutting the business down (leaving even more unemployed!)…reward hard work? How does it allow our talent and drive to take us anywhere?? Democratic LIES! >:(

    • That is why this election is crucial to the future of our country. Its really time for conservatives once and for all to really fight to establish rules in accord with the US Constitution. The liberals have been interpreting the constitution
according to their advantage while conservatives let them be.
