NAACP Urges Thorough Investigation In Winnsboro Burning
Source: Shreveport Times
The NAACP urged authorities to fully investigate an attack in Louisiana after Sharmeka Moffitt was and burned in Winnsboro’s Civitan Park on Sunday.
Authorities have confirmed that racial slurs were spray-painted on Moffitt’s car, including the N-word and the phrase “KKK”. Authorities are looking into whether race was a factor in the attack.
“The NAACP offers our prayers to Ms. Moffit and her family in their time of crisis,” NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous said. “Initial reports of racial animus in the incident are disturbing. We will remain vigilant as we urge authorities to conduct a full investigation into this crime. We encourage anyone with information on the incident to immediately report possible leads to authorities.”
