Bet On Black: African American Shows Boost Oprah’s OWN Ratings

There’s Black Entertainment Television (BET), TV One and now, there’s apparently Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network!
The TV titan’s television network posted double-digit gains for the month of October, the channel’s ninth consecutive month of growth, across all key demographics in both primetime and total day versus year ago numbers.
Winfrey’s ratings upswing has a lot to do with the newly launched “Iyanla, Fix My Life” and “Welcome To Sweetie Pie’s.”
“Iyanla, Fix My Life” is hosted by motivational guru and life coach Iyanla Vanzant. The show, which featured Vanzant helping “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada in the series premiere, is the second most-watched show on the network, averaging 742,000 viewers.
