Woman Fatally Shot While Driving On Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive

A Chicago woman was shot and killed Friday morning while driving her van on the ramp from Lake Shore Drive to Interstate 55.

Illinois State Police said a 32-year-old woman and a 37-year-old female passenger were driving a white Dodge van south on Lake Shore Drive around 4:20 a.m. when the shooting occurred.

A brown, full-size van pulled alongside them as they entered the ramp to I-55 and someone opened fire with 10 to 14 rounds, shooting the driver, police said. The woman’s van then crashed into the median. She was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The other woman was not injured and was taken into police custody for questioning. She is not considered a suspect.
