Health officials are urging 7,000 patients of an Oklahoma dentist to be tested after potential exposure to HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C in an ongoing investigation with the state board of dentistry.
The possible exposure happened at the dental practice of Dr. W. Scott Harrington in Tulsa, Okla., and Owasso, Okla., and officials are sending letters to 7,000 patients who have visited the facility since 2007, according to a Tulsa Health Department news release.
The health department didn’t provide information on how patients may have been exposed.
According to the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry, the investigation so far has uncovered “numerous violations of health and safety laws and major violations of the state dental act.”
