Teen, 16, Fatally Shot By Cops After Shooting At Pedestrians In Chicago, Police Say

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has released the identity of a 16-year-old boy fatally shot by police Sunday afternoon.

Tywon Jones, of the 1600 block of South Hamlin Avenue, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 4:51 p.m. Sunday, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office said this morning.

Police representatives said Jones was shot after opening fire on pedestrians and shooting at police. He was shot in the 1200 block of South Independence Boulevard.
