Jay-Z’s new album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” doesn’t drop until July 9 (July 4 for some Samsung users), but it’s clear from new ads that it is filled with personal songs from the rapper.
In a new video, Jay-Z, 43, is seen talking to record producer Rick Rubin about “Jay-Z Blue,” a track from the album about being a father to 16-month-old Blue Ivy, his daughter with Beyoncé.
Fatherhood is complicated for the producer-entrepreneur who grew up in a single-parent household.
“My pop left when I was young so … he didn’t teach me how to be a man nor how to raise a child or treat a woman,” he said “So, of course, my karma, the two things I need, I don’t have, right, and I have a daughter. It’s the paranoia of not being a great dad.”
