O.J. Simpson was granted parole Wednesday, but the NFL great will still serve at least four more years in prison.
According to the Associated Press, Simpson has been paroled on some of the charges stemming from a kidnapping and armed robbery conviction in 2008. Simpson was initially sentenced to nine-to-33 years behind bars.
Simpson, 66, appeared before a parole panel last Thursday, arguing that he deserved leniency because he was remorseful for his crimes and has since been a model inmate.
“Since I came to Lovelock, I gave them my word that I would be the best prisoner they ever had,” Simpson said last week. “I think I’ve kept my word.”
