A 14-year-old boy was shot in the torso and critically wounded in the Lawndale neighborhood Sunday, one of at least seven people shot since late Sunday morning in Chicago, police said.
The boy was walking into a store in the 1500 block of South Kedzie Avenue at about 10:35 a.m. when someone fired shots and he was hit in the torso, police said.
He collapsed inside a store and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, authorities said. The boy’s condition was serious Sunday afternoon, Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said.
The boy, who is from a west suburb, may have been in the area to visit a church, police said.
