Antonio Smith was pretty hot when he yanked Richie Incognito’s helmet off and brandished it as a weapon during a flare-up that marred the Houston Texans’ exhibition victory against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night.
Now the Texans defensive end is, predictably, in hot water with the NFL.
The league is considering suspending the 10th-year veteran, a person with knowledge of the review process told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because a decision on punishment had not been reached.
It’s possible that Smith could be banned for two games, given the serious nature of his violation, which was captured on videotape. The league is also weighing a fine in lieu of a suspension.
