WASHINGTON — A tearful former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. took the stand in front of a judge and packed courtroom at his sentencing hearing with his wife and admitted he made mistakes.
The sentencing hearings for Jackson Jr. and his wife Sandi come after the couple pleaded guilty. Former Chicago alderman Jackson will testify next.
“I was wrong and I don’t fault anyone,” Jackson Jr. said. “I also want to apologize to my dad and my mother… because I am an example for the whole family.”
Jackson’s father is the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Jackson Jr. then asked the court to punish him, but not his wife.
