A Special Request: Please Help This Young Man Realize His Dream…

For More Information, see this feature article in Darren’s hometown paper: http://www.thecentralvirginian.com/?p=7497

Dear Friend, Client, Supporter or Subscriber:

For nearly three years now, you have received emailed information from my business, Trice Edney Communications, LLC and/or the Trice Edney News Wire. That information has more often than not dealt with crucial issues pertaining to important events; justice, education, political, health and racial issues or the African-American community at large.

For the first time, I am sending you an email with an appeal to you of a personal nature. Here is an opportunity to give to a worthy cause – who just happens to be my nephew. Yes, love has forced me out on a limb like this … I thank you for considering this request.

All his life, while playing the drum in his home church and other churches in the small town of Louisa, Va., my nephew, Darren Avery Poindexter, has dreamed of being accepted to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass. It is among the top music conservatories in the nation. He has even earned the nickname, “Drumma Boy”.

Well, through much study, practice, perseverance and faith, he has made it in. At this very moment,  Darren, 19, is an incoming freshman, preparing to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree at Berklee.

He has moved into his dorm room, is getting to know his room mates and is preparing for the start of class next week. The problem is he is not able to register for classes until the full balance of his tuition for this semester is paid. This means he may have to return home as both I and his parents – my sister (who has been long unemployed; but now works a part-time job) and her husband – have done all we can.

Darren has received student loans, a financial award from Berklee, merit and need-based scholarships, etc. Now, he needs $5,600 more dollars, which must be paid by midnight tonight in order to be credited by tomorrow’sdeadline. With your contribution of any amount – and a few minutes of your time – we can help Darren pursue his educational dream and contribute to his bright future.

If you can contribute ANY AMOUNT – regardless of how small – toward this worthy educational cause to help Darren realize his dream, Berklee’s easy and confidential Pay-by-Phone system is as follows:

Please Dial Today: 866-661-9951 and follow the simple prompts to enter Darren’s student ID number: 0710079.

Then the automated teller will ask for your payment information. It takes Visa, MC, AmEx, Discover or an ECheck.

You will receive a receipt in the form of a confirmation number. This contribution is tax deductible.

Payment(s) by phone will post to student’s account the next business day, so please contribute by mid-night tonight.

His deadline for the 0 balance is tomorrow, Sept. 6.

On behalf of the “Drumma Boy”,

We thank you for your kind contribution!
