13-Year-Old Boy Shot And Seriously Wounded In Chicago South Side Shooting

A 13-year-old boy was shot and seriously wounded in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side this afternoon, authorities said.

The shooting took place at 3:15 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Halsted Street, according to police.

The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.

B.J. Brame, who works at a hardware store near the shooting, said he was working inside and heard three or four shots.
