’12 Years A Slave’ Wins Best Picture Drama At 2014 Golden Globe Awards

“12 Years A Slave” was named Best Picture – Drama at the 71st annual Golden Globes awards. Steve McQueen’s film, based on the 1853 memoir by Solomon Northup, a free man who was kidnapped into slavery in 1841, was the most-nominated drama of the night with seven total nods. The Best Picture win was its sole award of the night

“12 Years A Slave” first debuted at the Telluride Film Festival in August, and had its official premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. McQueen’s film, his third feature following “Hunger” and “Shame,” is favorite to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards in March.
