Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) says in a new interview that she will “do the right thing” when it comes to a controversial state bill allowing businesses to refuse service to gay customers.
Several big-name Arizona Republicans, including Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) have urged Brewer to veto the bill, which gay rights groups say amounts to legalized discrimination.
“I don’t rely a whole lot on my gut, because I have to look at what it says and what the law says and take that information and do the right thing,” Brewer told CNN on Monday night. “But I can assure, as always, I will do the right thing for Arizona.”
