Former Saints star Darren Sharper is accused of committing seven rapes and 11 acts of drugging someone in four states, according to a Friday court filing by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors in the court filing asked the judge to raise Sharper’s bond to $10 million due to the public safety risk based upon the numerous cases. The judge postponed ruling on their request until a hearing on Feb. 20.
Sharper was formally charged on Friday with two drugging-rapes in Los Angeles, and has remained free on a $200,000 bond since his Jan. 17 arrest there.
Sharper’s attorneys in New Orleans and Las Vegas have maintained his innocence. “We look forward to the true facts being revealed in this case and we are hopeful that Mr. Sharper will be fully exonerated before this case is concluded,” Beverly Hills attorney Blair Berk told The Los Angeles Times.
