Just about everyone who has viewed a YouTube video of students at Detroit’s Academy of Arts and Sciences singing a joyful rendition of Pharrell Williams’ hit song “Happy.”

The video has been seen more than 462,000 times as of Wednesday after being uploaded March 7.

“We could never have imagined that the video would take off like it has,” school CEO Maurice Morton said. “We’ve been swamped by phone calls, emails and messages. We’ve also been contacted by NBC ‘Today’ and the ‘Ellen DeGeneres’ and ‘Queen Latifah’ shows. Everyone is so excited for the children.”

The topper is that the choir’s version of “Happy” was just more or less an impromptu rehearsal.
