Looks like New York can file this under #trendsetters.
The failed #myNYPD social media campaign launched a slew of copycat tweets chronicling alleged brutality in other cities, including Chicago, Albuquerque and Los Angeles.
The deluge of anti-cop messages — each tagged with #myCPD, #myAPD and #myLAPD — capped off soon after New York’s Finest, through its Twitter account, asked people to post pictures of themselves interacting with officers using the hashtag #myNYPD.
The effort backfired, but similar posts began to refer to well-known cases of police brutality as far as the West Coast — including pictures from the 1991 beating of Rodney King.
