Georgia Governor Signs ‘Guns Everywhere’ Into Law

Source: Larry Copeland / USA Today

ELLIJAY, Ga. — It’s legal for licensed gun owners in Georgia to pack heat in bars, schools, churches and some government buildings.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, a Republican, on Wednesday signed the state’s “Safe Carry Protection Act,” which critics dubbed the “guns everywhere bill,” in north Georgia, on the edge of the Chattahoochee National Forest and Cohutta Wilderness area.

“Our state has some of the best protections for gun owners in the United States. And today we strengthen those rights protected by our nation’s most revered founding document,” Deal said in signing the bill.

The new law, which goes into effect July 1, allows licensed gun owners in Georgia and visitors from 28 other states to bring a gun into a bar without restrictions and carry a firearm into some government buildings that don’t have security measures. It also allows school districts to decide whether they want some employees to carry a firearm and religious leaders to decide whether to allow licensed gun owners to tote to their church, synagogue or mosque.

    Not surprised.

FYI, guns for the most, have already been almost everywhere, this just gives protection to those law abiding citizens who do choose to carry. I myself have carried since 1993 and most of my friends do as well. Have they or I been in shoot-outs or killed anybody? No. The irrational fear that having more law abiding gun owners is going to create more crime and mass shootings is delusional and not based on any evidence. In fact, since passing similar laws in my state, we have seen a decrease in personal crime.

I don’t know about you but I have never heard or met a person who used a gun that didn’t start out as a law abiding citizen.

What kind of church does he attend? If God can’t protect you, then a gun won’t. I don’t feel safe if I’m trying to worship and the person sitting next to me and my children is there with a killing machine on his hip. From the Supreme Court on down these elected officials NO LONGER REPRESENT WHAT “ALL” OF THE PEOPLE WANT OR NEED. Why doesn’t the people who does NOT agree with these things have to live with such decisions, because people like him are bought and sold by the NRA. These bigoted rules, bills and laws that are being put in placed in these RED states by those RED Governors are only showing the world that this so called land of the free is gone WITH A BULLET now because even the Supreme Court does not protect nor do they do what’s best for all of the citizens of the United States. They are inflicting their personal views and feelings upon the people and lately it’s been to supply certain groups in this country with everything they will need to prosper and they know they have and continues to screw over those certain groups of people, whom they had always wish they could ruin and their bigotry and racism IS FLOWING LIKE POISONOUS VENOM THROUGH THE VEINS OF THIS COUNTRY that others around the world had always assumed as the best! NOT ANYMORE!

I agree! This must be some type of plan that they are putting into place now that they have their players where they need to be. Rational people have got to get out to vote and remove these people from our government before history starts to repeat itself.

Well, I guess after there are no more criminals to shoot, they will get bored and start shooting each other over disagreements.
