New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez is pushing back on a Mother Jones article that includes a recording of her calling her 2010 Democratic opponent the b-word.
Martinez, a Republican heralded as a rising star in the party, sent out a fundraising e-mail Wednesday saying the recording in which she calls then-lieutenant governor Diane Denish “that little b—-” was “stolen.” But Martinez and her campaign did not dispute the content, as she blasted the “liberal media in Washington.”
Martinez asked supporters on Twitter to “stand against the liberal D.C. media” by signing a petition and referred to the Mother Jones story as “one of the most desperate and despicable attacks to date.”
