Sil Lai Abrams Says Whoopi Should Also Be Suspended For Her Comments On Domestic Violence

Play

Today On the Tom Joyner Morning Show: Roland Martin talks to Sil Lai Abrams about ESPN hostStephen A. Smith‘s controversial comments about domestic violence. Smith suggested that women shouldn’t provoke men and as a result, ESPN has suspended the sports analyst for a week.

“I agree with the suspension…I think Whoopi should be suspended too. The issue is it puts responsibility on the victim,” Abrams said. “Here’s the issue, these people have huge platforms. They are lumping all violence together and that’s not how it works.”

Stop Violence Against Women! and Men!

Men are victims of domestic violence too! If a woman continually his a man and he keeps telling her not to, then she’s been warned. I’ve seen women like this so I don’t agree with a man should never hit a woman.

I love how she is saying that its ok to hit men but its not ok to defend yourself if you are a man. It is actually her that is promoting domestic violence and she should be suspended for THAT!!!! Ray Rice is a victim of domestic abuse his wife hit and spit on him and yet she is defending those actions against him. She should be ashamed of herself for blaming the victim!!!!!!!

but it doesn’t work like that does it Sli Ali Abrams? Violence against a man is OK but a man defending himself is not ok. YOU are SEXIST and should be suspended for your sexist thoughts. FYI its not a stereotype if the person you are talking about (Eva) is the person you are using as your example. If you think she didn’t attack Chad you have a hole in your head and are either stupid or dumb either way you shouldn’t be giving your opinions. You are clearly a man hater to say that women should be allowed to hit and spit and kick men but men shouldn’t be allowed to defend themselves is not only victim blaming but Sexist and wrong!!!!

Women should not provoke men to hit them and men should not provoke woman to hit them. If you hit someone first, you must know that you will get hit back, period.

Whoopi should get a reward for telling the truth. Sli Ali Abrams needs to get a real grip on reality.

Sli’s stance is similar to others. It suggests that a woman should be able to say (or do) anything and the man has to take the high road. The stance suggests that, at any time, the man is always able to “control” the situation because he is, presumably, bigger and stronger. This places an unreasonable burden on the man.

Sure, there are knuckleheads who abuse women because, well…, they’re (the men) are knuckleheads. These men exist and I don’t deny it. But, trying to fit every case into that mold is unwise.

WE DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED in this case!!!! We shouldn’t make assumptions (and I haven’t)…

  • Angelene Frederick

What she needs to understand is that not all relationships are based on what she believes, Sli Abrams that is.

  • Angelene Frederick

Exactly Rolin, the platform should have been used to make a real difference in the world. Why doesn’t she make something happen?

Here’s the deal! We don’t know what happened (in the elevator). There should be cameras in the elevator, right?

So many pundits are “projecting” what they think MAY have happened. I say, again, I don’t know what happened!!

Allegedly, she had been drinking. We don’t know if she was being carried out of the elevator solely because she was drunk. We don’t know if she lunged at Ray Rice, lost her balance and knocked herself out. I don’t believe that this is what actually happened BUT… Believe it or not, if it happened on video (and we saw it), it doesn’t matter what I “believe.”

All in all, this would hardly be an issue IF there was not the INCOMPLETE video of the wife being carried out of the elevator. If this was a story about which we just heard, a two-game suspension would be PLENTY!!

This is a double-standard which favors women (and there aren’t many which favor women). We a conditioned to believe that the larger person should be able to subdue the smaller person without incurring any physical distress. This is NOT a good assumption. I’m sure it’s true for some but each situation is different.
