The latest jobs numbers are out and despite the overall unemployment rate falling to 6.1%, unemployment for African Americans remains in double digit figures. Martin and the “NewsOne Now” Straight Talk panel, featuring Dru Ealons, Lauren Victoria Burke and Michelle Hudgens, discuss the August jobs report and the state of Black unemployment.

The HistoryMakers, America’s largest collection of African American video interviews is sponsoring their 5th Back To School initiative. On Friday, September 26, 400 leaders will visit 200 schools in 61 cities in 30 states to inspire student to commit to their own educational excellence.

Leonard Pitts Jr.  appeared on “NewsOne Now” to discuss the importance of The HistoryMakers Back To School program.

Martin sat down with NFL Hall of Famer, Michael Irvin and talked about the upcoming football season on “NewsOne Now.” Irving also weighs in on the controversy surrounding Cleveland Browns’ Johnny Manziel, Houston Texans’ Andre Johnson and Seattle Seahawks’ Richard Sherman. 

Plus, comedian Lavell Crawford stopped by the “NewsOne Now” studio and chopped it up with Martin and the Straight Talk panel.
