Roland Martin: This System Gives Cops The Right To Use Excessive Force [VIDEO]

Roland Martin appeared on the Dr. Phil show to discuss police brutality and issues of race in America. During this segment of the show, Dr. Phil highlights the story of 20-year-old Dillon Taylor, who was unarmed and was gunned down by police officers after 911 callers claimed he had a gun in his waistband.

Martin said “there is an epidemic in the state of Utah of people being killed at the hands of police.”

Martin added law enforcement officials need “better training, better teaching and in this case here, we have got to stop this nonsense where we give police so much leeway where they can automatically say, ‘my life was in danger.'”

I honestly thought the boy had a gun too. I don’t praise the cop for shooting, but I don’t blame him.

Whatever happen to FREEZE OR I’LL SHOOT Warning? In the Walmart cases they say it was reported someone is waving a BB gun…whatever happen to PUT THE GUN DOWN, Instead what we see is cops run in like it’s a Call of Duty Game and shot on sight. I do blame him, gun or no gun officers are not random targets, they are not coming up daily missing, but if it were the case then and only then would I not blame him. His reason would be cops die daily, so what was this guy’s excuse…NONE. He should have been arrested for resisting arrest no shot…TWICE AT THAT! The other kid was shot at 12…12x’s hit 6. unarmed! Please a trained professional has no excuse, even the terminator (part 2) knew you don’t kill people. You shot them in the leg!
