Charlie Sifford, The Jackie Robinson Of Golf, Dies At 92
We pay tribute to Charlie Sifford, the first Black golfer on PGA Tour. Sifford recently had suffered a stroke, died Tuesday night at the age of 92.
This past November, President Obama presented Sifford with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award during a White House ceremony.
In 2004 Sifford became the first black inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
