President Obama Bans Solitary Confinement For Juveniles In Federal Prisons & The Supreme Court Rules Juveniles May Not Be Sentenced To Mandatory Life Without Parole

Solitary confinement for juvenile prisoners is now banned in the United States. That’s an order from President Barack Obama.

The new rules apply to about 10-thousand federal inmates. Also earlier this week, the Supreme Court ruled a 20-12 decision to ban automatic life sentences for youths should be retroactive.That means 21-hundred juveniles convicted of murder have the possibility of parole.

A Michigan teen’s piano performance has gone viral.  Almost five hundred thousand folks have clicked onto Sara Hadley’s FaceBook page to see eighteen year old Monntel West’s self-taught rendition of ‘River Flows In You’, a song by a South Korean artist. Waiting for a friend at a Lansing, MI mall Friday night, West, who cannot read music and does not have a piano at home, has inspired a Go Fund Me campaign for lessons at Okemos Music Academy.
