During this special edition of the show Martin talks with Dr. Jason Johnson, a contributor to TheRoot.com; J. Hogan Gidley, Republican Strategist; Armstrong Williams, Host of The Right Side and owner of Armstrong Williams Productions, LLC as well as a whole host of special guests from the site of the Republican National Convention.
Martin and Dr. Johnson discussed Chairman and CEO of Fox News Roger Ailes being accused of sexual harassment. According to media reports, Ailes is on his way out as the head of Fox News and is currently negotiating his exit.
Martin and Johnson also discuss the lack of a policy initiatives being presented from the RNC podium. Johnson told Martin, “This has got to be the least organized, least functional and least optimistic” convention that he has attended.
Armstrong Williams joined Roland Martin on The Roland Martin Show to share his views about this year’s Republican National Convention, Donald Trump’s follies and explained Trump “is not like any other candidate.”
He added, “I don’t think he can speak in in-depth substantive terms and I don’t think he has the patience to sit and to be taught and to be managed and learn to deal with the issues and for us to set that up — that’s false expectations for us all.”
J. Hogan Gidley, Republican Strategist discussing the latest polling data which shows American’s want presidential candidates to share specifics and know the president can handle the job.
Hughey Newsome, from Project21 shares his thoughts on the Republican convention and hoped the party would “figure out a way to expand our approach and expand our messaging to bring more people in” as opposed to what is taking place on the convention floor.
Michael Steele, former RNC Chair said the party missed an opportunity to address the #NeverTrump movement by shutting down anti-Trump forces with a voice vote. Steele also highlighted a number of other missteps by Republicans, citing the Melania Trump speech controversy and said all of the hiccups during his year’s convention puts “more pressure on Donald Trump to close the deal.”
