Donald Trump makes his appeal to Black voters before a predominantly White audience in a suburb of Milwaukee.
The Hillary Clinton agenda hurts poor people the most.
There is no compassion in allowing drug dealers, gang members, and felons to prey on innocent people. It is the first duty of government to keep the innocent safe, and when I am President I will fight for the safety of every American – and especially those Americans who have not known safety for a very, very long time.
I am asking for the vote of every African-American citizen struggling in our country today who wants a different future.
It is time for our society to address some honest and very difficult truths.
The Democratic Party has failed and betrayed the African-American community. Democratic crime policies, education policies, and economic policies have produced only more crime, more broken homes, and more poverty.
In this edition of The Roland Martin Show, Roland Martin deconstructs Trump’s Black voter pitch. Martin told listeners “Trump’s speech was a waste of time.”
Before explaining why the GOP presidential nominee’s speech was essentially ineffective, Martin prefaced his statement by saying, “Republicans should talk to Black people … I believe Republicans do have some policies that could benefit Black America.”
He continued, “The problem is Republicans are scared of Black people. Republicans don’t want to talk to Black people — case in point last night.”
“Donald Trump wasn’t talking to Black people. Donald Trump gave a speech in Wisconsin to a 95 percent White audience in order to make them feel comfortable saying, ‘See, he will talk about Black people.'”
Dr. Jason Johnson, professor, political analyst and public speaker joined today’s conversation to share his views on Trump’s flawed attempt to attract Black voter support.
